Living and working in the Flanders, between Lille and Kortrijk, I have always been influenced by the light and the colours of my country.
My work lies between figuration and abstraction and the monochromatic character of my paintings is based on the greys, browns and deep greens of the earth in the North.
The surface is also part of the story, I mainly use flax canvas, stretched or loose so as to keep the imperfections and the movement but I also use wood panels and vegetable papers. I am fascinated by the shadow and the light that can be found in many Flemish artworks. More recently, my research into Japanese and Korean art has led me to find other media and experiment other fields.
I have found inspiration in nature, in objects of the everyday life, each of them having a special meaning, a presence. In their simplicity, they bring me back to the essence of aesthetics.
